JŪRAS BANYS

 

Habilituotas daktaras, profesorius. Gimė 1962 gruodžio 30 d. Vilniuje. 1980 m.  baigė Vilniaus m. 9 – ą vid. m-klą, 1985 m. su pagyrimu baigė Vilniaus universiteto Fizikos fakultetą, 1990 m. baigęs aspirantūrą Vilniaus universitete apgynė daktaro disertaciją, 2000 m. apgynė habilituoto daktaro disertaciją, 2000 m. suteiktas docento vardas, 2003 m. VU suteiktas profesoriaus vardas

1989 m. gavęs Soros grantą 10 mėn. dirbo Oksfordo universitete, Anglijoje.

1993 - 1995 m. metais gavęs A.Humboldt’o stipendiją dirbo Leipcigo universitete, Vokietijoje.

Skaitė paskaitas Anglijoje, Čekijoje, Vokietijoje, Italijoje, Prancūzijoje, Lenkijoje, Šveicarijoje, ir kitur.

Lietuvos Mokslu Akademijos, Povilo Brazdžiūno premijos laureatas (2001 m.)

2002 m. Nacionalinės premijos laureatas.

Šiuo metu dirba profesoriaus pareigose Vilniaus universiteto Radiofizikos katedroje, katedros vedėjas

2003 - 2007 m.   VU fizikos fakulteto dekanas.

Nuo 2007 m. Vilniaus Universiteto mokslo reikalų prorektorius.

Pagrindinė mokslinių tyrimų kryptis –  gardelės dinamika, feroelektra, struktūriniai faziniai virsmai, dipoliniai stiklai, relaksoriai, dielektrinė spektroskopija.

Paskelbęs virš 200 mokslinių straipsnių, daugumą jų – tarptautiniuose mokslo žurnaluose.

Yra dalyvavęs tarptautinėse mokslinėse konferencijose Vokietijoje, Rusijoje, Anglijoje, Italijoje, Latvijoje, Čekijoje, Lenkijoje, Prancūzijoje, JAV ir kitur (iš viso virš 350 pranešimų, 24 kviestinių).

Dėsto fizikos disciplinas Vilniaus universiteto Fizikos fak. studentams. Šiuo metu pedagoginį darbą dirba profesoriaus pareigose (1/2 etato).
