State Awards to the Members of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences

On the occasion of the 16 February, the day of the restoration of the state of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania, handed out state awards for merits for the Republic of Lithuania and for the promotion of the name of Lithuania worldwide. Five members of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences – Romas Lazutka, Kazimieras Ragulskis, Vytautas Ruzgas, Kęstutis Sasnauskas, and Juozas Augutis – were honoured among the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania and foreign countries who were awarded state decorations.
Prof. Dr Romas Lazutka, a full member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, a professor at Vilnius University, an active expert in the policy of public sector economics, social security and labour market policy, and the pension system, was awarded the Cross of Officer of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas.
Prof. Habil. Dr Kazimieras Ragulskis, an emeritus member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, an active pioneer and developer of the school of precision vibromechanics and vibration technology, was awarded the Cross of Officer of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas.
Assoc. Prof. Dr Vytautas Ruzgas, a full member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, a chief scientist at the Cereal Selection Division of the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture, Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry, an expert in the development of seed breeding and in innovations in this field, was awarded the Cross of Officer of the Order of the Grand Duke of Gediminas.
Prof. Habil. Dr Kęstutis Sasnauskas, a full member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, an active promoter of molecular biotechnology in Lithuania and the world, was awarded the Cross of Officer of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas.
Prof. Habil. Dr Juozas Augutis, a full member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, rector of Vytautas Magnus University, a mathematician, an active pioneer and promoter of data analysis of COVID-19 disease (coronavirus infection) in Lithuania, was awarded the Cross of the Knight of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas.
The community of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences extends their congratulations and best wishes to academicians Romas Lazutka, Kazimieras Ragulskis, Vytautas Ruzgas, Kęstutis Sasnauskas, and Juozas Augutis, who were honoured with state awards.
