Four Members of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences Honoured with State Awards

On 16 February, the Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania, awarded orders and medals of the Republic of Lithuania to the citizens of Lithuania and foreign countries for their merits to the Republic of Lithuania and for promoting the name of Lithuania to the world. Four full members of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences were honoured with state decorations.
Arūnas Ramanavičius, a physicist, chemist, academician, professor, and a habilitated doctor, was awarded the Cross of Commander of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas for his significant services to Lithuanian science and society and for promoting the name of Lithuania in the world.
Crosses of the Knight of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas were awarded to Vytautas Getautis, a chemist, academician, doctor of physical sciences, for his scientific achievements in the field of organic chemistry and for the promotion of the name of Lithuania in the world
and to Sigitas Tamulevičius, an engineer, physicist, academician, professor, for his active pedagogical activity, significant contribution to Lithuanian science, and the promotion of the name of Lithuania in the world.
Alvydas Jokubaitis, a philosopher, political scientist, academician, professor, habilitated doctor, was honoured with the Medal of the Order of Merit to Lithuania for his outstanding contribution to the academic development of political philosophy in Lithuania and his long-standing pedagogical activity in the education of the younger generation of political scientists.
The community of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences extends heartfelt congratulations to its members honoured with state awards.
